PHOTOGRAPHY

When the Cooper family arrived at their session, it was 25 degrees. Windy. Freezing. Red-nose kind of cold. As a Franklin TN Photographer, I was impressed by how they came—layered up, huddling between takes, and trusting me to make it quick—because this session meant something.
It was a birthday gift.
Dad had asked what she wanted. After a few “I don’t knows,” she finally said:
“I want a family photo session.”
Not a sweater. Not a dinner out.
Just time with the people she loves most.
Captured. Remembered. Framed forever.
Being a Franklin, TN photographer means getting to preserve stories like theirs.
Their two sons, both in their twenties, made the time to show up for her. We captured the full family, the brothers together, mom with her boys… and then—just the two of them.
Mom and Dad.
She told me afterward that they hadn’t had professional photos together since their wedding day. And yet, when I posed them, it felt effortless. I offered guidance, of course—but they already knew how to show up for each other.
It was easy. Natural. Deeply connected. If you’re in the area and want this kind of connection photographed, a Franklin TN Photographer is a wise choice.
And it reminded me of something I see all the time:
For many families, the next “real” professional photos don’t happen until someone’s wedding.
That’s often the next time adult children are photographed with their parents—or the only time a couple steps in front of the camera together after their own wedding.
I want to help change that. Being a Franklin TN photographer means encouraging families to document these seasons before they quietly slip by.
This mama? She’s going to cherish these.
Not just because of how they look, but because of what they represent. With the expertise of a Franklin TN Photographer, these moments gain even more value.
A season before the nest fully empties.
A birthday marked with meaning.
A gift she didn’t just open—but lived.
We photographed their session at Harlinsdale Farm in Franklin, TN—one of my favorite wide-open spaces with soft light and a peaceful feel. A Christmas tree was set up on the property, so we grabbed a few cozy, classic frames there, too.
But honestly? The setting didn’t matter nearly as much as the story.
And the cold didn’t keep them from showing up fully in it. As a Franklin TN photographer, that’s always what I hope for—that the story stays at the center.
This wasn’t just a birthday present. It was a chance to slow down, to stand shoulder to shoulder as a family, and to say—this moment right here? It matters. Clearly, working with a Franklin TN Photographer allows families to preserve those moments in a truly meaningful way.
These are the kinds of sessions I want more families to say yes to.
Not just because they make beautiful portraits…
But because they remind us to pause.
To gather.
To document the season before it shifts.
If you’ve ever found yourself wondering what to give—something real, something lasting—consider this your quiet nudge:
Photos are a gift that only becomes more meaningful with time.
Not something to unwrap and forget…
Something to return to. Again and again. If you decide to give a photo session, remember a Franklin TN Photographer can help create lasting memories.
That’s the beauty of working with a Franklin TN photographer—you’re not just booking a session. You’re preserving a season.
P.S. I offer gift cards for moments just like this.
You don’t have to wait for a wedding.
You don’t have to wait for “someday.”
You’re allowed to celebrate your right-now.
If this made you think of someone you love—or a season you don’t want to forget—I’d be honored to help you photograph it as your Franklin TN photographer. Reach out when the time feels right. Reach out here to schedule a session or gift an experience that truly matters.
