The Whitwam Family

Winter Family Session | Murfreesboro Photographer

A Winter Location That Always Delivers

Stones River Battlefield is one of my favorite places to photograph families—especially in the winter. I love how even in the colder months, the tall grass catches the light just right, giving everything a soft glow that feels warm and timeless.

The road and winding paths offer space to move naturally, which makes sessions feel relaxed and real. It’s a setting that brings out connection—and the Whitwam family is the perfect example of why this location holds such a special place in my heart. It’s one of those places that reminds me why I love being a Murfreesboro photographer in every season.

From a Christmas Mini to a Full Family Session

Just a few weeks after their Christmas session, the Whitwams reached out again—this time to include the whole family. In Murfreesboro, a family photographer can make these moments possible.

What started as a quick round of holiday photos turned into something even more meaningful: a chance to gather, slow down, and be fully present in this season of life.

Portraits That Felt Long Overdue

They told me it had been years since they’d taken photos together as a full family. For some of them, it had been so long they couldn’t even remember the last time they’d had professional portraits done.

As a Murfreesboro photographer, I hear that more often than you’d think.

Life gets busy. Schedules don’t line up. Time just… moves.

But this session felt different. You could tell they weren’t taking it for granted. They were just happy to all be there — together — finally making it happen.

Grandparents, Grown Kids, and Generations Together

I have such a soft spot for sessions that include grandparents.

Especially when they tell me it’s been a while since they’ve had portraits taken. There’s something about the way everyone naturally gathers in close — grown kids leaning into their parents, hands resting on shoulders, quiet smiles that carry years behind them.

It’s steady. It’s full. It means something.

Moments like this are a big part of why I love being a Murfreesboro photographer. Getting multiple generations together in one frame just feels important.

Years of love.
Shared history.
A connection built over decades.

Capturing that kind of relationship is always an honor—and being able to give them updated portraits that reflect who they are now is something I’m truly grateful for.

Why These Photos Matter

I’m grateful that as a Murfreesboro family photographer, I get to help hold onto seasons like this — the kind you’ll cherish and come back to years down the road.

Whitwam family, thank you for trusting me. It truly meant a lot.
